My name is Jennifer Russum, and I am Associate Professor of English at Arizona Christian University, where I teach composition, journalism, and marketing classes. I also serve as the Director of Academic Excellence for ACU's Title V grant, The Esperanza Project. I enjoy being the advisor for ACU's Student Press Club and leading the university's writing center and tutoring program. Before arriving at ACU, I was an Assistant Professor of English and the Writing Center Director at Vanguard University of Southern California.
I earned my Ph.D. in English Rhetoric and Composition at Arizona State University where I studied women’s writing on blogs and social media. My dissertation examined the ways female sewing bloggers in the handmade industry use digital tools for learning and philanthropy, and I continue to research how women craft online identities around motherhood and entrepreneurship. My most recent article is called, “Sewing Entrepreneurs and the Myth of the Spheres: How the ‘Work at Home Mom’ Complicates the Public-Private Divide." Outside of academia, I happily serve on the board of Love Your School Arizona, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families explore the many school options available to them. Finding the right fit for each child’s K-12 education can be the key to a successful college experience in the future. I live in sunny Phoenix with my husband and four daughters, whom I lovingly call my “little women.” As a family, we enjoy swimming, movie nights, sporting events, and road trips. In my rare (but revered) spare time, I like to exercise, write essays about culture and Biblical worldview, and try new coffee shops. |
